What car do you think is going to become a future classic?
I'd say the Marauder and the Impala Ss are going to be on the list, but what do you think?

The WS6 Trans Ams of the early 2000's
The newer GTO's
![]() 03/24/2014 at 19:56 |

Agreed, The newer Gto's will be up there someday.

I'm going to be that guy and say my own car. Also GTR R35 (they've barely depreciated) Golf R, E92 M3 for supreme driving dynamics, and Chevy SSR for batshit craziness and low production numbers.

I'm going to second that. The 300Zx will go up in value, if my mind reading of enthusiasts is correct.
I also agree with the Ssr, just because it looked like some sort of Hot Wheels when it came out.

I hope the Caprice 9C1 goes up with the Impala SS, since that's the one I'm sitting on.

-Fiesta ST: Pocket rocket with actual rockets under the bonnet.
-Subaru Impreza- Simply the best short-wheelbase 4WD roadcar ever made.
-'97 Civic: The birth of the "beige" phenomenon. (or so they say)
-Recent Carreras: So perfect they make my eyes explode.

Agreed the, 9c1 was a great Police car.
![]() 03/24/2014 at 20:09 |

Nice, I agree fully.

I think a lot of sporty cars from the '80s, '90s and even into the '00s will be sought after for being relatively light and uncomplicated compared to everything that's come since. Here are a few I can think of:
Obviously: Civic and CRX Si, Integra Type R, RX-7, anything AMG, anything M from BMW
Prelude (last generation, especially Type SH)
Integra GS-R (unmodified...)
First gen Taurus SHO
First gen Audi TT
WRX and Evo (unmodified, low-mile, etc., I don't know enough to specify years or key options)

I'm sure it was intentional, but there's an R35 photobombing your cooler, better sounding car.
![]() 03/24/2014 at 20:11 |
|
I'm also going to be that guy and suggest my last 2 cars, because odd.
(p.s. that question is probably going to get you a lot of biased answers)
![]() 03/24/2014 at 20:12 |

Agree with all of them!
![]() 03/24/2014 at 20:13 |

Probably the Crossfire, I'm guessing might be.
![]() 03/24/2014 at 20:17 |

The fox body seems to be getting quite popular...
![]() 03/24/2014 at 20:18 |

Yeah, the 5.0 I predict will be worth something soon.

I'd say all modern SRT's, like the Jeep Grand Cherokee, 300, Ram, Magnum, Charger, etc.
The Neo-classic modern muscle like the fifth gen Camaro, the new mustangs, and the Challenger
Funky Volkswagens like the Phaeton, first gen R32, and W8 passats
Bmw's like the e46 M3, the 1M, the clown shoe, and the e39 & e60 M5
"On the brink" classics like the Grand National and the Syclone
Cult classics like the R design Volvos, Miatas, Saabs, and G8's
Japanese muscle like Mk4 Supras, FD Rx7, 300zx, stock survivors
![]() 03/24/2014 at 20:25 |

The Clown Shoe, the Typhoon/Cyclone and the Phaeton are bound to be classics. I agree with the others also.
The Grand Nat already is a classic, in my mind at least.
![]() 03/24/2014 at 20:28 |
|
Definitely the Crossfire, especially the SRT6

Ready for my controversial nominations?
-Honda Insight
-Aston Martin Cygnet
-PT Cruiser
-Toyota Prius
I'm 100% serious about all of these
![]() 03/24/2014 at 20:40 |
|
Prius is too mass produced, and Me-No-Wanty.
Pt Cruiser is too "Big Tymers"
It's good to have different views though, Haha.
![]() 03/24/2014 at 20:45 |
|
The VW Beetle was mass produced too! As much as we hate the Prius, it's a big piece of automotive history. I was on the fence about the PT. I'm thinking it's going to have a "Hey remember when these things were so popular when we were kids?" type following.
![]() 03/24/2014 at 20:49 |

Yeah, the Prius was a game changer in the hybrid field. But never something that people will restore.
The Pt Crusier, I see more of what you were saying. I remember how strange they looked, Haha.

Ugh, let's get back to future classics we'll actually care about...
![]() 03/24/2014 at 20:55 |

There we go! Haha.
![]() 03/24/2014 at 20:56 |

Lol yep, quite intentional. The guy was really nice and we talked cars for a bit too.

BMW 850csi
When's the next time BMW is gonna make something this exceptionally great?

![]() 03/24/2014 at 21:03 |

Agreed. It was a great car
![]() 03/24/2014 at 21:11 |

I came back to suggest the SC300 with manual transmission. Is that what you had?
The Crossfire I don't see being a classic. It was based on an outdated platform to start with, the styling wasn't loved by hardly anyone (sorry), the performance wasn't special. Maybe the SRT version will have some followers.
![]() 03/24/2014 at 21:33 |
|
It was THE car of the ricer crowd more than anything else. Yes, that fad was dumb, but clean unmolested eg civics will make people smile 10-20 years from now.
![]() 03/24/2014 at 21:44 |
|
I agree. The Ek? Type R will be worth something one day!
![]() 03/24/2014 at 21:47 |
|
I'm hoping the Honda/Acura DC2 Integra Type-R will become a future classic as I'm about to buy one that is 100% stock and I'm keeping it stock.
![]() 03/24/2014 at 21:59 |
|
Nope 400, because cheaper.
….. and holy hate much? Its platform was better than anything Chrysler could of made at the time. Its styling was and is loved by the people that own them and every one in the Design community I know loves it. Being a transportation design student I love that its a rolling sketch.
Also it has a stiffer chassis then the 911 of its time, that with stiff suspension and wide tires means it pulls 1.0g on a skidpad and even the N/A version is limited to 155mph.
So keep sipping the hater-aid.
![]() 03/24/2014 at 22:02 |

The EK will also be a classic, but I feel like the EG is the ever so slightly more iconic civic generation.
Integra Type R's arguably already have severely inflated resale values. I would love me a Type R.

2nd Generation ('91+) Toyota MR2 Turbo

I'm sorry you took that so strongly. I don't think anything I said was controversial! But hey, cars become collectible when the majority of people aren't interested in them. If there are dedicated Crossfire lovers to maintain the cars, there will end up being a collectors' market for them. The more so-called haters there are, the more collectible the cars will be for people who love them.

In one sentence you pretty much said it had a bad chassis, looks bad, and was slow. But considering even the Corvair has a following these days I'm inclined to agree with the rest of what you said.
![]() 03/25/2014 at 05:55 |

Agreed. They will be worth a Pretty Penny in Canada, being so rare.
![]() 03/25/2014 at 09:10 |

Seriously with the Porsches. I'm shocked how pretty they are every time I see a 997

This is a wild one but I'm going to throw the subaru baja out there
